We drive the Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel from New York City to Frank Lloyd Wright’s masterpiece, Fallingwater, encountering some other delightful Wright and Wright-adjacent architecture along the way. And enjoying the Jeep immensely. For Vanity Fair.
Rally for the Lane Motor Museum
The Lane Motor Museum holds one of the largest and oddest collections of tiny, weirdo, orphan cars ever assembled. And once a year, you can pay to drive some of them. Or, if you’re me and writing about it for the February 2014 issue of Road & Track, you can drive them for free. Click the image above to view a crappy scan of the article (and then click it again to make it bigger and more legible). Better yet, just buy the magazine on the newsstand, you chintzy bitch. (p.22)
Category 11 Storm Heads for U.S.!
The driver”s control area in the new Lamborghini Huracán is inspired””like most adolescent fantasies of speed, power, and destruction””by a fighter jet. Foucault would have a field day deconstructing this thing.

Rust, Wrecks, and Torqued Phalluses
Ferrari sponsored an amazing exhibition of automotive art at Art Basel, including works by Richard Prince, Richard Phillips, Damien Hirst, Keith Haring, and Kenny Scharf. We photographed every one of them just for you, at Vanity Fair–including this Rolls-Royce with a giant penis growing out of its hood.
More Art, More Cars, No Porn
At Art Basel Miami Beach, Jeff Koons unveiled at least one sculpture that was not pornographic or a balloon animal. But it was shiny. (HINT: It’s a BMW Art Car!) Read all about this handsome vehicle, and every other car in the Art Car series, in my latest for Men’s Journal.
Getting Freaky
I appeared on NPR’s Freakonomics show this week, talking about weird automotive safety innovations that failed. Listen to the podcast here.
Everything Important That Happened at Art Basel Miami Beach
I went down to Miami Beach for a few days to cover the opening of the Art Basel Miami Beach art fair, and concomitant cultural clusterfuck, for Vanity Fair. Here is all of my coverage in one place.
1) I met up with Marina Abramovic, and we talked about Art, spirituality, and fundraising for her new Rem Koolhaas-designed Institute.
2) Hanging with Cindy Crawford, Maseratis, and smoking middle-aged French men cruising teenage girls.
3) All the best parties, starring Cadillacs, Koons, and Kanye.
